Are you confused about which paint to use where? Getting your head in a spin over high gloss, low sheen, enamel and water based?! Look no further, here’s our go-to guide on which type of paint we use where. And why!
Yep, you’d be right in thinking us Birds have a soft spot for gas-strut windows. We’ve used them in all-but-one of our houses and just can’t get enough of them.
Why? These babies really are the bee’s knees. With a single nudge, they pop upwards and outwards as if motorised. When you’re ready to shut the window, I’ll admit, you have to use a little more effort but hey it’s a great work-out for your arms and in the words of Ice-T #putyourbackintoit.
So let me say again, we lurve a gas-strut window and think that you probably need one in your life too!
Choosing the colour scheme for your home’s exterior can be really quite daunting. Remember that your front façade is the first thing people see so it should set the vibe for the entire home. No pressure guys, but it could be the make or break of your whole vision! #somuchpressure!
Shut the barn door! Bonnie’s farmyard just got pimped. While we’ve been hibernating at home over the past few months, Bonnie’s been busy working on a little iso-inspired project for the new, feathered additions to her menagerie. #moderncoastalchookhouse #bonniesdreamchookhome
A Butler’s Pantry, or ‘BP’ in Three Birds lingo, was a luxury we simply couldn’t afford in our first houses in terms of both money and space, but we’re happy to announce that we have finally created one in Bon’s Dream Home! Now we’re not all going to die wondering if they’re worth it – it’s mega! Actually, it’s more of a butler’s kitchen than pantry.
It seems that our Three Birds Gang have a bit of a thing for bar stools! Remember the timber and black ‘tractor stools’ we used in House 4? Bonnie picked them because the black legs complemented the black knobs and the tap in the kitchen. We had no idea that they’d become the most asked about furniture we’d used - EVER!
And then you guys nearly broke the internet, selling out Ziggy stools like the ones Bonnie used in her dream home, overnight! They’re the ones at the main island bench… not to be confused with the three other styles of bar stools Bon chose for her dream home! #nothingbyhalves
Artwork is such a personal choice. What floats one person’s boat isn’t always the next person’s cup of tea #whitewithoneplease. That said, I for one, love Bon’s choices of artwork in her dream home. True to her eclectic style she’s chosen different artists and a range styles but what they’ve got in common is that they all look amazing on those big white walls #bonniesdreamgallery #moveoverMOMA
Have you ever seen a gorgeously styled home and then you get to the kids’ bedrooms and they’re a bit of an… ummm, well… #eyesore #bestclosethedoor?!
Not in Bonnie’s dream home! #nowayrose Once again, she’s knocked it out of the ballpark with her styling. This time with the bedrooms for her four boys. The kids love them as much as the adults… so, how did she get it so right?
I asked her to spill the beans ….
If your heart (and your Vision Board) are telling you that your dream home is an all-white wonderland but your head is screaming “NO!” – what’s a girl to do?!
Ooooh, boy! The excitement is mounting for Sophie’s open home already and all this chat about it has me flashing back to Bonnie’s first (and last!) open home on that glorious winter day last year.
It was such a thrill to meet so many keen and lovely Reno Schoolers who came from far and wide to have a squiz at Bon’s place. Excuse all my gratuitous shoulder rubs as you arrived, I was so pumped to have you all there in the flesh!
Sophie is opening the doors to her beautiful dream home so our Reno School students can see, touch and feel every nook and cranny of her home - and maybe get some ideas and advice for their own reno project.
Guess what it is??
It’s deadset my Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner. I bet you didn’t see that coming!
So when Dyson asked me to road test their latest innovation - The Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum I was literally wetting my pants to give it a go. It felt like Christmas!
When you want to build a coastal home, but don’t live anywhere near the coast, it can be a bit challenging. But that’s where a pool can be your saviour. Not only will it keep you cool and provide hours of fun for the family, but it can also give you your very own water views!
If you’re anything like me, browsing houses online is a favourite pastime, but there’s just something special about seeing a home in the flesh #realdeal #loveanopenhome
So, when I suggested to Bon that we invite our Reno School students over to her #moderncoastalbarn for a look-see, she hesitated …. And then jumped at the idea.
We had an overwhelming response and could hardly believe our eyes when we scanned the guest list to find we had students flying in from New Zealand, Perth, Melbourne, Far North Queensland, and …. even Singapore! Yep, just a 6,500km journey to view our latest project #commitment #humbled #loveourrenoschoolers
Many of us are apprehensive about adding ethnic furniture to our space, for fear of things ending up too ‘boho’. In the latest Three Birds renovation, Bonnie shows us how adding some ethnic pieces, in a neutral palette, can take a room to the next level, and compliment a range of décor styles, especially her amazing ‘coastal barn’ home.
In a Three Birds Facebook first, Lana took to Facebook Live with one of our suppliers, Nick Walker, CEO of National Tiles.
Nick dropped into Lana’s forever home #santoriniinsydney for a chat about all things tiles. And yes, he had to take his shoes off and do the interview in his socks! #noshoepolicy #cleanfreak
Bonnie used National Tiles products throughout her dream home to create some amazing tile features. Nick’s faves are Bon’s dog bath and the curved ceiling in the main bathroom #greattaste
If you’re anything like us, drooling over home inspo pics is a favourite pastime #pinningforlife. But if a renovation isn’t on the cards at the moment, sometimes you need a little project to get your creative juices flowing and spruce things up around your home in the meantime. We’re often asked for our best reno hacks, so here are a couple of really easy peasy lemon squeezy ones that you can finish in one weekend.
