Hey Party People! If you’re serious about entertaining, we’ve discovered the must-have for your house party – a party pavilion, baby!

Outdoor room, cabana, pool house, pavilion – call it what you like, this pool-side abode is kitted out to be the perfect entertaining paradise.

Sophie and her husband love to socialise with friends and family, but the arrival of two baby Bells made going out all the time increasingly difficult. So, they decided that if they couldn’t go out to the party, they’d bring the party to them. And boy, are their guests in for a treat!

I’m quick to tell anyone who asks that candles are always top of my list when choosing styling props. They just look gorgeous and are so versatile that they can be used in every room.

We know that a parent's retreat is usually right up there on the wish list when creating a family home and we're sure this one will not disappoint! It's got an open-plan bedroom and ensuite, and as if a double shower wasn't enough, there's another on the balcony, for good measure. And it's totally private thanks to this secluded rainforest setting. Note: please don't try this in suburbia!

5 THINGS YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT IN OUR LATEST KITCHEN

Sophie wanted to keep the kitchen light-filled and open, so decided to ditch any overhead cabinetry and stick with below-bench storage. Lucky for her, the concrete island bench is 5-whole-metres long, meaning there’s so much room for storage on both sides of it.

HOLY TRANSFORMATION! DO NOT MISS THIS AWARD WINNING WEATHERBOARD RENO!

You don’t have to be an expert to see why this renovation by Reno School student, Kate Potter, won top prize at the Building Designers Association of Australia Awards.

Not only did it take out first place in its category, it beat out large commercial-scale projects to take overall first prize in the Greater Sydney Chapter Awards!

Flashback to week one of Reno School… that’s when I first had my ‘ta-da’ moment. I’d been a keen pinner and saver of images well before I signed up for the course, and had enough inspiration of how I wanted our family home to look, to fill an entire gallery. But it was when I was working through the first Reno School modules and got to the question “How do you want to feel in your home? Insert whichever happy words come to mind here!” that something really clicked for me.

HOUSE 10: SEE OUR DREAM BLOCK!

Here she is! Our beautiful block, hand-picked for our Three Birds’ House 10! This will be our FIRST ever ‘new build’ and finding the perfect block was one of the most important tasks we took on. This block already has a long driveway (to nowhere though) and we’ll be putting the house right up the back where the cleared land curves around deeper into the bush.

HOW I CHOSE THE PERFECT BUILDER & WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Where we live, renovating is the new black. Everyone’s doing it. So, decent builders with any availability are a rare commodity. In fact, I’d heard that finding a builder who can start when you want is a bit like the show, Wheel of Fortune. Give the wheel a big spin and hope for the best. You get what you get, or you wait a while and have another spin.

In our case, finding our builder was actually more like an episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. And I was in the Hot Seat. We were ready to submit our plans to Council for DA approval and the questions were coming thick and fast from my architect, engineers, council… and my husband. They all wanted to know who was actually going to build the dream home we’d been meticulously planning for the past year.

MEET EMMA! SHE’S A RENO SCHOOL VETERAN!

Emma Ramia from Toowoomba is one of our Reno School originals. She jumped on the Reno School bus as soon as our very first intake opened and isn't getting off any time soon.

Once a hairdresser, Emma gave it up when her kids were born and turned her creative skills to renovating. She’s now flipped two houses and is planning her next project.

So when Dyson asked me to road test their latest innovation - The Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum I was literally wetting my pants to give it a go. It felt like Christmas!
