LANA'S COMING TO YOUR LIVING ROOM! ‘DREAM HOME’ AIRS THIS SUNDAY

Have you heard the BIG NEWS? Three Birds Renovations is part of the brand-spanking new renovation TV series, Dream Home, with our most outspoken bird, Lana, as one of the judges!

Dream Home premieres on Sunday, May 26th at 7pm on Channel 7 and while we count down the minutes till kickoff, let’s take a look at what you need to know about the show.

As you can imagine, this series is right up our viewing alley, featuring six pairs of everyday Aussies battling it out room-by-room, to transform each others’ suburban family homes into amazing new dream homes. The prize? A dream home, EACH! That’s right, every couple wins their own dream home! No nail-biting auctions or heartbreak here, just heart-warming, real dream home transformations. The couple with the highest score at the end of the series, will also receive $100,000 cash to help with their mortgage.

MEET THE HOST

Dream Home is hosted by the Bondi Vet himself, Dr Chris Brown.

If you’re pondering Dr Chris' credentials as a renovation show host, he acknowledges that what he lacks in renovating skills, he makes up for with his ability to genuinely empathise with the contestants' experiences on the show. “In real estate terms, my own skills are a renovator’s delight, in need of a serious makeover,” confesses Dr Chris. “I’ve somehow lived through two renovations and seen both of them blow out on time and budget, mostly because of my questionable decisions. I genuinely feel like I can relate to what our couples are experiencing – possibly more than they’ll ever know.”

MEET THE JUDGES

Get ready to be inspired and entertained by the lineup of judges on Dream Home, including none other than our very own Lana Taylor, Co-Founder at Three Birds! Lana has led the creation of our online courses Three Birds Reno School and Three Birds Styling School so she understands exactly what it takes to create a dream home. Lana was once a rookie renovator herself so she also knows how the contestants will be feeling as they learn on the job … but with the added time pressure and scrutiny of a competition and TV show! So much is at stake!

Joining Lana is award-winning interior designer, Rosie Morley and top buyer’s agent Simon Cohen. This trio will critique every couple, every week, scoring their spaces and giving them feedback directly to their faces. Yep, Dr Chris provides no buffer here - the judges and contestants go head-to-head, every single week. Word on the street is Lana, Rosie and Simon are very direct with their feedback, they don’t always agree … but there’s always a bunch of laughs and banter between them! Apparently, it’s like they’re siblings and we’re here for it.

MEET THE CONTESTANTS

We don’t know who was most surprised when Lana met Lara - one of the contestants and a Three Birds Reno School student! Lara Bird and her husband Peter are one of the two teams hailing from New South Wales, alongside two from Victoria and two from Queensland.

LARA AND PETER, NSW

The Sydney couple are dreaming of turning their 1960s red brick home in Belrose into a breezy coastal oasis, complete with an open-plan layout and lush greenery. “This renovation will mean we finally get to entertain. Being around friends and family is super important to us.”

Jacinta and Jordan, NSW

The pair, along with their two young daughters, have been squeezed into Jacinta’s grandparents’ single-bedroom granny flat, while they save up to renovate their cramped and rundown home in suburban Punchbowl. Their Dream Home renovation could not come soon enough!

Brad and Mel, Victoria

Brad and Mel have been married for over 20 years and are parents of four teenagers. Their home, an untouched 1920s Edwardian-style property, is simply too small for their family and lifestyle. After six years of trying to renovate, they decided to take a chance and apply to the show. They’re hoping for a home their kids are proud to bring friends home to.

Taeler and Elle, Victoria

Sisters Taeler and Elle are entering the competition with a significant advantage - Taeler is a professional house-flipper and a graduate architect. The home getting a makeover is Elle’s 1960s Watsonia North property, which she bought in 2022. They’re envisioning a modern 70s aesthetic with a focus on natural materials. Here’s hoping the other contestants have the same vision in mind!

Hannah and Jonny, Queensland

Hannah and Jonny have their hands full with 10-month-old twins. Their 1950s weatherboard home in Coorparoo has high potential but is currently rundown and cramped, making it unsuitable for a young family. They envision an open-plan home filled with colour, fun, and personality. Jonny hopes their brief isn't mistaken for a retro style that results in an Austin Powers-esque home with bold colours in every room. Finger crossed!

Rhys and Liam, Queensland

Tradie brothers Rhys and Liam have been dubbed the ones to watch. As a tiler and carpenter, they actually know how to renovate! After helping Rhys renovate his place, it’s now Liam’s turn with his 1970s Deception Bay pad. Rhys is making the ultimate sacrifice to give his brother his dream home, leaving behind his partner, baby son and young daughter to join the competition.

THE INSIDE WORD…

The lowdown from Lana is Dream Home is the family-friendly feel-good show you need on your Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night watchlist. They’ve dialled up the real renovating action and heart-warming feels, with the goal being that all the couples walk away with their own dream home and the pair that impresses the judges most will also walk away with some extra cash. As Lana says, “Everyone’s a winner. For the five couples that miss out on the cash prize, they’re the luckiest losers I’ve ever seen! They each have won their dream home, and that’s worth the world to them, you can tell.”

What did Lana say was one of the highlights of filming? Getting a Dream Home drink bottle with her name on it! #simplethings
