IF YOUR ENSUITE LAYOUT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!

In Reno School, we talk a lot about the importance of nailing your layout. But if you’re lucky enough to be renovating a room with a floorplan that isn’t broken – don’t fix it!

This ensuite already had a great layout – the vanity, toilet and shower all lined up along one wall and it reminded me of my cottage bathroom. In a small, narrow bathroom, it’s usually the most practical, space-maximising way to fit everything in and, if you already have this layout, your budget will love you for not having to pay your plumber to shuffle your services.

Everything we did in this bathroom was purely cosmetic, so I thought I’d share the shopping list of products we used to add some wow factor to this room.

My must-have checklist for OUR bathroom reno:

✔️ Luxaflex shutters – a no-brainer for good looks, light filtering and privacy. And the Luxaflex polysatin finish is essential in a humid bathroom environment.

✔️ Shutters for the doors – nothing says fancy hotel suite like a bathroom right off the bedroom. We removed the solid door in favour of these bi-fold shutters to give the feeling of more space. They’re actually the same Luxaflex polysatin shutters as on the windows, just bigger!

✔️ New Tiles – because one tile choice is never enough, I went for FOUR different tiles all from Tile Cloud in this little bathroom. The combo of the vertical white subways, marble-look floor tiles and that pretty blue patterned encaustic-look tile all come together to bring the #colourmehamptons vibe to this ensuite. Can you spot the 4th tile? It’s the edging tile midway up the wall – these small details can make or break your design.

✔️ Reece Vanity & Shaving Cabinet - you can never get enough storage in a bathroom, so we chose a vanity with a matching shaving cabinet for face-height as well as below counter storage.

✔️ New loo, shower screen, tapware and accessories – all the old bathroomware products had done their dash, so we replaced with brand new sparkly ones. Reece was our go-to for the toilet, tapware and accessories, like the towel hooks and toilet roll holder. Gotta love a one stop shop!

So, there you go, it really was that simple. No change to the layout, no windows moved – purely cosmetic. But what a difference!
