In Three Birds tradition, at this time of year we ask Bonnie to show us how she styles her home for Christmas. Ez and I really need some inspo and I’m sure we’re not the only ones! #yourewelcome

Well, this year Bon’s gone #extraAF on us and insisted on clearing out her entire barn #poorhubby to set up a full Christmas display. There’s a tree, dining table, side table, sofa… heck, there’s even a bed in there!

She’s incorporated some #diyhacks that are so simple to replicate at home, a gorgeous sustainable take on a Christmas wreath and even a decorated outdoor entertaining area. So, if tinsel’s not your jam and you need some serious Christmas decorating inspo… read on!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

This Christmas we are keeping things simple, with a cream and gold palette and plenty of natural textures like rattan and linen. We celebrate Christmas in the middle of summer and the season lends itself perfectly to a light and white scheme.

Oh, Christmas Tree!

Bon has a faux Christmas tree that she pulls out every year. It stands a giant 9 feet tall and it is pretty awesome how you just yank it out of the box, fluff it up and it’s the perfect shape, ready to decorate.

This year we picked up some really simple decorations at Early Settler and H&M and then added the gold pine cones which were a super simple Christmas hack.

All I want for Christmas is you

All of us Birds love getting our extended fams together around a big table to celebrate Chrissy with good food and wine.

We’re loving this natural, beachy look for a summer Christmas Down Under. Bon often uses a table runner instead of a full table cloth and then creates layers with place mats, stacked plates and gold cutlery. This year she chose all white shells, coral and candles of varying heights and shapes for the centrepiece.

A Christmas wreath upon the door

It’s said that the circular shape of a wreath represents eternity, because it has no beginning and no end. But lasting forever is certainly not the case for most fresh wreaths that barely last the festive season. That’s why we’re loving this ‘Succ a lot’ wreath from Little Succers – not just because of its catchy name! They might just be the most stylish and sustainable way to add some festivity into your home this year. The willow wreath is adorned with up to 30 succulents of different varieties. Once the hangovers have subsided, the tree is taken down and the season is over – it’s time to get your hands dirty and re-pot every succer you see. How’s that for a nifty idea?!

When you’ve finished Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree…

and the Christmas feast has come to an end, there’s nothing like vegging out on the sofa with a Christmas movie. We’ve changed up the cushions in the lounge, daybed and outdoor seating areas to carry the theme throughout. Check out Bon’s little cutie in the dog bed – she got a new Christmas cushion too!

Add a few decorations and some Christmas greenery in a vase on your coffee table and you’re good to go!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

When all the festivities are over, we’ve found the perfect bed to retire to. How gorgeous is this four-poster bed from Early Settler. You’ll be dreaming of a white Christmas in no time.
