HOW I CHOSE MY FLOORING

I first fell crazy in love with Woodcut’s totally gorgeous flooring when we used it in Lana’s Forever Home. Her floors look bloody amazing and I knew I needed them in my dream home too! I love the romance of real timber floors and these engineered timber boards are just perfect because you get the look, but they’re also easy to install. And they arrive pre-finished so there's no staining or oiling after installation - just walk right in! #easypeasylemonsqueezy

Woodcut are totally amazing, not only because they’ve got tonnes of colours to choose from (including light ones which are often hard to find), but also the variety of sizes of boards. For the majority of my house, I chose the big mother 26cm boards because my big mother of a house is wide enough to handle them. There’s also a standard 19cm width option (which Lana used) for more sensible sized houses and smaller versions to create parquetry style patterns. #sogood!

No prizes for guessing what colour I chose! It’s called ‘White Oiled’ #stillobsessedwithwhite, but surprisingly it’s not the whitest white of the range! We used ‘Pearl White’ in Lana’s Santorini-inspired home and it’s just gorge, but I chose this one because it’s got a bit more warmth to it. It’s still a nice fresh white and I love that you can see the gorgeous grain details coming through.

I’ve always admired traditional herringbone floors and wanted to use this idea in my home, but with a modern twist. The foyer was the perfect place to use Woodcut’s decorative 15cm boards to create a chevron pattern. It really defines this area from the rest of the room. You actually feel like you’re walking into a modern barn when you come through the front doors. Which is absolutely perfect because this is my #moderncoastalbarn after all.

Watching the flooring go down, I was actually quite emotional, I couldn’t be more in love! #sorryhubby #deadsetobsessed. It looks so, so beautiful, feels silky underfoot (if you ignore the crunchy sand #thanksboys) but is strong enough to withstand tough, Aussie conditions. So, I’m sure three boys, two dogs and a toddler on a balance bike will be no match for this flooring. I’m just so grateful to have this gorgeous floor in my dream home.
