WHEN FOREVER HOMES BECOME FOR SALE HOMES

The beautiful kitchen in Candice Silver’s once forever home, now for sale home - ‘Byron in Brisbane’

There’s something in the air in Reno School! Call it itchy feet… or a strong dose of the reno fever… but over the past few weeks, our Three Birds Reno School Community has been rife with students announcing they’re unexpectedly selling their ‘forever’ homes. We watched them lovingly create their vision boards and painstakingly bring these homes to life for their families to live in… forever.

But life happens, and things change, and these four beautiful homes are up for grabs for their next families. Candice, Courtney, Toni and Jodie all have one thing in common… they just can’t wait to do it all over again.

Take a look at these four forever homes, now for sale… or SOLD!

 BYRON IN BRISBANE

If you’re a regular on the real estate pages, you’ll probably recognise Candice Silver’s stunning home. We featured it on the Three Birds blog and socials, and since hitting the market, it’s getting its deserved share of air time everywhere we look. Unsurprisingly, the home is now under contract.

Candice, her hubby Tom, and their two young boys moved to Brisbane from Sydney in 2019, which gave her the opportunity to pour her love of renovating into creating their dream family home. They weren’t newbies to the reno game, with two previous renovations under their toolbelts, but their #ByroninBrisbane project was by far the biggest yet. Having holidayed in Byron Bay for many years, Candice’s vision was to bring the relaxed, coastal vibes of Byron to the ‘burbs of Brisbane.

They bought a tired old Queenslander, raised it and gave her a full makeover. The end result is nothing short of stunning. So, we just have one question for Candice about the sale… WHY?

While we absolutely love our home, we didn’t bank on enjoying the whole process as much as we did.

Residential and interior design is a real passion of mine, and along with Tom’s background in electrical design and construction, we’d love to put everything we’ve both learned into practice and do another project.

Creating a beautiful family home is my creative outlet, so I’m keen to do it all again!
— Candice Silver

We can’t wait to see what Candice and Tom get up to next!

THE BACHE’S BURLEIGH BEAUTY

Longtime Reno Schooler Toni Bache and her hubby Michael were self-proclaimed rookies with “a passion for building, renovating and design”, when Toni joined the course. She completed Reno School and Styling School and the couple went on to complete four projects in the space of 12 months. The largest was their own home, a new build in Burleigh, which was the worthy winner of a Queensland Master Builders award.

To be honest, they never called it their forever home but we thought it might be… who would ever want to leave this???

We built this home after returning to the Gold Coast after 10 years living interstate and overseas. We couldn’t find a house that we liked in a location we liked, but already had a property that was ripe for redevelopment in our favourite spot. So we took the plunge.
— Toni Bache

Toni broke her back, falling downstairs when living overseas, so a three-storey home is not ideal for her, but the block commanded this layout. Their plan was to live in this beautiful home and do a few other projects in the meantime to keep their reno bug satiated. That was until the house they’d dreamed about buying for 17 years came on the market, and they couldn’t let the opportunity to buy it pass them by. It was a single-storey 1960s beach bungalow in original condition that will become their next project.

Toni and Michael’s award-winning home sold at auction after just a few weeks on the market. Check out this luxe, light-filled home, moments from the beautiful Burleigh Beach on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

A HOUSE NAMED GENEVIERE

We featured Courtney Barker’s new build on the blog in December 2021. Just a year later, after a breast cancer diagnosis, she started treatment and the medical bills began to flood in, thick and fast. She began looking at the possibility of selling their beautiful new home to help take some of the financial strain off the family. The thought of open homes and the selling process seemed like an unnecessary additional stress at the time, and so they put in a call to their local real estate agent for some advice.

We made one phone call to a local agent to see what he thought our house was worth, and he said he might have a buyer for us. Long story short, our house never went to market and we had an unconditional contract on it within 48 hours!

We had our eye on another property that we signed a contract on that same day. It was meant to be! We’ve purchased a gorgeous little Queenslander with endless potential, which will eventually be our next project.

I did the Three Birds Reno School before starting our build and it was a game-changer. It gave me confidence in all of my decisions and it made me back myself. It helped me find our exact style and what we loved.

THE CAVES PALMS RESIDENCE

We loved watching The Dunn's new home come to life in the Reno School community, it was definitely a labour of love. They took over two years to totally transform the home, dedicating every weekend and countless hours of DIY to the project,… as well as some “blood, sweat and lots of tears”.

It’s been a big few years creating what was meant to be the ‘forever home’, but there really is no such thing as forever, the feet get itchy, and renovating is addictive!

We are constantly inspired by the Three Birds and other renovators in the group, so it’s hard not to want to keep going and get creative with new trends!
